Central Asia Barometer Survey Wave 2

Countries: Тajikstan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekstan.

Даты: 20.10.2017 - 03.12.2017

Research design: The goal of this project was to obtain a reliable understanding of public opinion in several countries. The survey included questions about the political and economic situation in each country, attitudes towards the government, relations between ethnic groups, opinions on political leaders, opinions on other countries, and media usage. In addition, it provided demographic information, such as age, education level, religion, and employment status, among others. Fieldwork was conducted simultaneously in the four target countries. The F2F surveys in Tajikistan and Uzbekistan were followed-up with telephone interviews from Kyrgyzstan, as sensitive political questions are excluded in these countries, at least in a large-scale general population survey. The sample sizes in each country were of 1500 interviews in each country. To obtain a nationally representative sample in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan, we used a combination of stratification and cluster sampling. All of the regions were included in the sample frame and selection process. All interviews were completed on a tablet, with pen and paper used only to complete contact sheets and fill in the Kish grid/tables for respondent selection.
