On 24-25 September, the Central Asian Barometer took part in the CAB at the 4th Interdisciplinary Conference: Adaptation & Transformation in Central Asia. Tlegen Kuandykov, our Communication Officer, on "political stability of neo-patrimonial regimes", focuses on the interaction of formal institutions and informal methods of authoritarian control, which ultimately has a significant impact on political trajectories

The conference brought together eminent international and regional scholars, practitioners and civil society activists to discuss political and social transformations as well as the adaptation of individual actors and wider society in Central Asia to institutional reforms and policy changes in recent decades.

We would like to express our gratitude to the organisers of the conference, in particular the OSCE Academy and the Friedrich Ebert Foundation in Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan, and to the participants who presented interesting papers, ideas and discussions.
